Remarks

"Aristonus" is a short text situated in the ancient Greek environment: The young Sophronimus, son of Alcinus, lives after having lost his posessions, stranded and alone on the temple island Delos. The old Aristounus, who, having been a slave from childhod years on before Alcinus allowed him to make a career as his servant, visits him. Being obliged to Alcinus, who offered him the education he needed, he wants to rather make the son of Alcinus his heir than anyone from his own familiy. In Delos the old man has to realise that he found here the very son of his former master whom he wanted to find with a hint of the gods.
