Remarks

The promise to offer secrets revealing the power of money at the European courts in matters of war peace, love and politics is not really kept. The book offers novels mostly in the Italian genre and situated in a past century. The English novels concluding the collection lead into a lower social sphere. The book ends with a coffee-house dispute among several Wigs on the question whether the war should be continued. The attractive role is played by an advocate of peace, who balances the profits to be made in war and peace by a trading nation.
